Currently we live in a 2006 Alfa SeeYa fifth wheel that we’ve lovingly named Dixie. For those that don’t know, a 5th wheel is one of those trailers that has a goose neck that hooks up
in the bed of the truck. For more information on the purchase of our RV, keep a lookout for my next blog post. So without further ado, I present to you a short picture tour of the RV. Enjoy!
This is Dixie! She is a 36′ beast weighing in at 16,000lbs! Yes, that is heavy for today’s RV standards. She has an amazing pop-up front (located to the right of the picture) that is a completely unique feature to this make. She also has a large front awning that the whole family enjoys.
The view when opening the front door and looking to your left. You can see a large back window above the foldout couch and lots of lighting, including a ceiling fan! Also immediate, there is a ton of storage! We even have an actual table with real chairs! Neat!
Here is the opposite view. If you are sitting on the couch, you have a great seat to watch our TV (it swivels out) while also being able to see absolutely everything else going on in the rig. If you can’t tell, the area with TV and desk is on a slide out. Oh and hey, check out that sweet double door fridge!
Here is a great shot of Chelsea and I showing off this amazing kitchen. It is quite large for an RV and was the selling point for me to get this particular make and model. We live in it full-time so I wanted it to have as much kitchen as possible. With a 6’5″ man, a lady that runs around 100 miles a month, and a toddler, the kitchen is a very popular spot in the RV! Yes, the kitchen is also on a slide.
This is a shot from the bedroom. It shows the bathroom area. The sink is in our bedroom (which sounds weird but is actually no big deal and kinda nice) and the toilet is behind the wall you see on the left. The shower is on the right, and while there is a towel hanging from it, is rarely used. We stuff our dirty laundry in there!
Our bedroom! This is a queen size mattress, but the bed actually fits a king. There is a ton of overhead storage and a large closet. The bed lifts up for even more storage. What you can’t see is that the walkway to the left of the picture is actually a slope (remember the gooseneck bit?). This means from where the picture is taken is about 6’6″ but standing on the opposite side of the bed is a foot and a half shorter. That side is my side of the bed. I am only 5 feet tall so it has worked out perfectly for us.
Did I mention this closet is a slide? Also, we occasionally watch TV in here on lazy days.
Another look at the closet slide. Chelsea loves to play on the “ledge” and throw herself into the side of the bed. Win for free whole-family entertainment! And hey, check out my large bedroom window. It provides a great view for people-watching throughout the day because of the pop-up front shown in the first picture. Watch out at night though! If I don’t close the blinds, people can see right in!
That’s Dixie! Thanks for checking out the RV and if there is any interest, I’ll do a video tour to give you a more in-depth look. Comment below with any questions or comments and be sure to subscribe to get updated on new posts and content!
